GRAPHICS CLASSES
PowerPoint
PowerPoint is a popular program used to create slide show presentations. In
this class you will learn to create a basic presentation; vary the background
to suit your audience; change and format your text; and add, remove or
rearrange slides. You will then learn how to supplement the basic show with
animation, pictures, sounds and movie clips. Preparation of speaker notes and
audience handouts is also covered. The only thing you won’t have to do is
stand up and present your show!
We can’t guarantee that your audience still won’t fall asleep during
your talk. But at least you’ll have a fighting chance of keeping them awake
after this class!
Length of class: 3 hours
Prerequisite: Basic Windows.
Time - 3 hours Cost - $200.00
Publisher:
Desktop publishing has never been easier! This class walks you through the
steps of creating any type of publication. You will learn about the Catalog,
how to change paper size, add graphics and text boxes, and control the flow of
words around your pictures. You will layer objects, create columns and dump
text from one page onto another page without losing a syllable.
After this class you will be very comfortable with the different visual
techniques and tools used in this program. You will also be able to edit your
text in Word in order to take advantage of Word’s grammar and language
modules.
Length of class: 3 hours
Prerequisite: Basic Windows.
Time - 3 hours Cost - $200.00
Microsoft Graphics: ClipArt and Drawing
It is not well known that you can create graphic images in most Microsoft
products. In this class we use Word to learn about the features of Microsoft’s
Drawing Toolbar. (But the same toolbar is available in Excel and PowerPoint.)
We start out with ClipArt – finding the Perfect Image (using the Web) and
then manipulating it (changing brightness, contrast, colors and cropping.) You
will learn to control the flow of text around any image (ClipArt, or a scanned
photo or…) You will also learn about objects in general with an emphasis on
WordArt and Text Boxes.
The talented among you will also be able to create incredible drawings using
lines, ovals, rectangles and other basic shapes. Everyone else will be utterly
thrilled and amazed by Diana’s example of her Famous Martini Glass.
Length of class: 2 hours
Prerequisite: A thorough understanding of Character, Paragraph, and Page
Layout formatting plus a sense of the absurd.
Time - 3 hours Cost - $200.00
